Sindhi students in XJTU celebrated cultural day

Sindhi students in Xi’an Jiaotong University celebrated “Sindhi Topi and Ajrak” day with colorful display of culture in streets of jiaoda here on Saturday.

According to our report, a rally was organized by Sindhi students of XJTU, Xi’an China which started from South East gate of the university and reached to KTV by the walk of about 20KM, where they celebrated the lovely and honorable festival for Sindh and Sindhi culture and enjoyed the Sindhi songs and folk dance with their Chinese friends.

The Sindhi Cap is regarded as one of the most essential part of the Sindhi culture and is usually offered to guests, along with a traditional Sindhi Ajrak, as a token of respect.

Sindhi language is ancient and rich in literature. Its writers have contributed extensively in various forms of literature in both poetry and prose. Sindhi literature is very rich, and is one of the world’s oldest literatures. The earliest reference to Sindhi literature is contained in the writings of Arab historians. It is established that Sindhi was the first Eastern language into the Quran, when it was translated in the 8th or 9th century. There is evidence of Sindhi poets reciting their verses before the Muslim Caliphs in Baghdad. It is also recorded that treatises were written in Sindhi on astronomy, medicine and history during the 8th and 9th centuries.
