ChatGPT Now Taps into the Latest Information

ChatGPT Now Taps into the Latest Information – OpenAI, with backing from Microsoft, has unveiled an exciting update for ChatGPT, their renowned chatbot. This development marks a significant leap as ChatGPT can now browse the internet to provide users with the most up-to-date information, a feature previously unavailable. Until now, the chatbot’s knowledge was fixed, based on data only up to September 2021. However, OpenAI has announced that this capability will soon be accessible to all users.

In addition to this, OpenAI has also revealed that ChatGPT will soon have the ability to engage in voice conversations with users. These advancements in artificial intelligence-driven systems like ChatGPT are poised to revolutionize the way people search for information online.

Previously, ChatGPT’s knowledge was restricted to the internet’s content as of September 2021. It couldn’t fetch real-time information. For instance, if you asked it about recent events or the current status of a public figure like Donald Trump, it would respond with, “‘I’m sorry, but I cannot provide real-time information.” This limitation had deterred some potential users.

With this new feature, ChatGPT becomes a source for the latest news, gossip, and current events, potentially diverting traffic away from traditional search engines and news outlets. However, it’s important to exercise caution when relying on ChatGPT for information, as it may not always specify its sources, potentially leading to inaccuracies or misinformation.

Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, a professor of business psychology at University College London, acknowledges the benefits of quick responses but cautions that verifying sources remains essential to ensure the accuracy of information obtained through ChatGPT.

Earlier this year, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) expressed concerns and sought information from OpenAI regarding potential risks to people’s reputations. OpenAI committed to collaborating with the FTC to address these concerns.

The delay in enabling ChatGPT to access real-time information was attributed to several factors. Developing language models is a time-consuming and resource-intensive process. Real-time data introduces the risk of inaccuracies, and ethical and privacy concerns, particularly with regards to copyrighted content without permission.

In essence, ChatGPT’s new capabilities highlight the ongoing dilemma in the AI sector. To become more useful, AI systems need greater freedom, but this also amplifies the potential for misuse and risks.
