Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, through the Mehran University Institute of Science, Technology and Development (MUISTD), is organizing a two-day capacity building workshop titled "Tackling Bullying and Harassment at Institutions with Integrity and Inclusion." The workshop will be held on April 1-2, 2026 at the MUISTD & US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), MUET.
The workshop aims to build awareness and practical skills among students, faculty members, academic leaders, and professionals to address bullying and harassment in educational and professional environments. It focuses on strengthening institutional integrity, promoting respectful workplaces, and ensuring inclusive academic spaces.
According to the organizers, the program is designed to help participants develop character, self-awareness, and leadership values, enabling them to effectively recognize, prevent, and respond to harassment and bullying in institutions. By the end of the workshop, participants are expected to gain actionable skills, policy clarity, and decision-making confidence to contribute to safer and more inclusive academic and professional environments.
The workshop will cover several thematic areas including character building and self-awareness for academic freedom, inclusive practices for preventing bullying and harassment, policy frameworks and institutional accountability, and the economics of respectful institutions.
Renowned resource persons will lead the sessions, including Dr. Mahvish Khaskhely, Dr. Iffat Batool Naqvi, Dr. Wahid Bux Mangrio, and Dr. Asma Zubedi, who will share insights on policy, leadership, and institutional strategies to combat harassment and foster respectful organizational cultures.
The workshop will begin with an inaugural session on April 1, 2026, featuring welcome remarks and addresses by university leadership, followed by interactive modules and discussions. The second day will focus on policy and reform, including policy masterclasses, discussions on legal frameworks, and collaborative dialogue sessions.
The initiative is supported by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) and reflects MUET's commitment to promoting safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environments.
Registration for the workshop is open until March 30, 2026, with a registration fee of Rs. 1800, which includes workshop materials, certificates, lunch, and refreshments.
